About this course:
The purpose of this paper is to assess how college students received and responded to H1N1 pandemic emergency preparedness information and to assess college students’ knowledge and attitudes towards H1N1 during the height of the H1N1 epidemic and corresponding public health response to the outbreak
Objective:
The aim of this awareness training is to:
-Increase the people alert level to the danger of these diseases and to limit the transmission of them through all communities.
-Learn About The Origins Of The Variant Influenza (Swine Flu) Virus, Who Is Most At Risk Of Infection, The Potential For A Pandemic And Ways To Manage And Control It.
Course Learning Outcomes:
·        Define and use, or recognize definitions and applications of, each of the glossary terms in the course
·        Describe influenza viruses, their structure, how they are transmitted, how they infect cells and replicate and how they produce their damage in the host
·        Outline the different types of immune defense which are deployed against flu infections, distinguishing those that act against infected cells from those that act against free virus
·        Describe how strains of the virus change over time, and relate this to the flu viruses that occur in birds and other mammals
·        Explain how the epidemic pattern of influenza can be related to the evolution of new strains of virus and to the specificity of the immune response against each strain.
