Environmental impact Assessment

Objectives:

The objective of EIA is to encourage consideration of the environment in the planning and decision-making process to arrive at actions that avoid or minimize adverse impacts on the environment.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• Explain the major principles of environmental impact assessment
• Understand the different steps within environmental impact assessment
• Discuss the implications of current jurisdictional and institutional arrangements in relation to environmental impact assessment
• Communicate both orally and in written form the key aspects of environmental impact assessment
• Understand how to liaise with and the importance of stakeholders in the EIA process
• Be able to access different case studies/examples of EIA in practice

Target Audience:

The target audience is planners, environmental consultants, ecologists, conservation organizations, businesses such as construction firms, and other groups with an environmental interest.

This training course will be presented using properly designed slides, some with animation and several videos on relevant issues.
