This course introduces the safe operation of lifting machinery with some background to the Occupational Health and Safety Act Driven Machinery Regulations. This is to equip the candidate with the legal obligations and framework to operating lifting machines in the workplace.

Objectives:

The aim of this article is to equip the candidate with the required knowledge and skills, enabling the candidate to operate and work with a forklift in a way which is safe and competently. It also provides the required knowledge regarding the principles according to which the machinery works.

Course Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the attending candidate will be capable of, and able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the content through the application of knowledge to familiar and unfamiliar situations.
  • Demonstrate the selection of counterbalanced lifting trucks, or forklift, and the safe handling of loads according to the standard operating procedure.
  • Explain and develop a hazard assessment program pertaining to supervision as an essential part of monitoring safe working and operation of forklift trucks, and
  • Prevent accidents and avoid damage to valuable goods and equipment by enabling safe operating manoeuvre techniques in even the most demanding environment.

Target Audience:

This course was designed for all employees who perform, or is expected to perform, daily tasks involving a counterbalanced lift truck, or a capacity rated 2,000kg and includes a capacity of above 15,000kg.

How will this Training Course be presented?
This training course will be presented using properly designed slides, some with animation and several videos on relevant issues.
